August 3rd, 2015 Pickups

I wasn’t planning on picking anything up this week, but I ended up doing so anyway when the girlfriend wanted to go out and hunt since she doesn’t get to as much. We quit after our first stop which had some great stuff we couldn’t pass up. Here is what I grabbed:

First up are cartridges only, Kirby’s Adventure for Famicom and Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past for Super Famicom. For the virtual boy, we have Bomberman: Panic Bomber CIB, although the box is a bit crushed. For the Neo Geo Pocket that is Del Sol 2, a slot machine game, I love my Neo Geo Pocket Color and am always happy to get new games for it. Finally, we have a GameCube Mario Party 4.

I also have a slightly early unexpected eBay mail arrival. A Chrono Trigger Sheet Music Book. I do not play any instruments, but my girlfriend does. So, this is slightly for her, but mostly me because I want a Chrono Trigger collection so bad.

July 3, 2015 Pickups

First, Boxed copies of Terminator 2 (missing the manual) and Who Framed Roger Rabbit for NES.

Second, Terminator 2 arcade game (with manual) for SNES, and Ecco the Dolphin for Dreamcast. Finally, Sport, Wolverine, and Wild Gunman for NES.

Lastly, a GameCube console booklet, some random instruction books I didn’t have, and an NES sleeve.

April 25, 2015 Pickup

Picked up some good games yesterday. I haven’t really gotten anything in a while. So just like the Atari Fridays, let’s try and get this going again as well.

Picked up 5 NES games: Rad Racer 2, Videomation, Star Trek 25th Anniversary, Gotcha!, and To The Earth. They all have pretty nice labels. With the return of my old big box tv out of storage, I was all set and psyched up to start grabbing all the light gun games I could find.

I also grabbed Rock N’ Roll Racing for the SNES, with manual, in pretty nice condition. So, I have to get the Retron hooked up again.

September 6, 2014 Pickup

I forgot to add this one two weeks ago. I Couldn’t find anything cool so I finally grabbed some cheap commons I didn’t have yet.

Stand-alone Duck Hunt, Friday the 13th, 10-Yard Fight, Adventures of Lolo, Anticipation, Talking Super Jeopardy, and Top Gun Second Mission for NES. and a Copy of Yoshi’s Safari for the girl who loves Yoshi.

The next post will be better.

August 23, 2014 Pickup

Now before you laugh, I did not find anything super cool amazing special this weekend. So instead I picked up what you see in the picture below.

Link’s Crossbow Training is pretty much the only Zelda game I can think of that I did not own yet, and to find a complete with crossbow version like this made it a must-have, especially when it’s pretty much the same price without the crossbow. F1-Race and F-zero are on my “I used to own these at one time, let’s get them back list”. I also decided to pick up three cheap SNES games. Clue because I love the movie, and it’s a fun board game. Space Ace and Shaq-Fu…well, I don’t know if I can justify these. Tetris, because Famicom games are awesome to have.

Like I said, nothing special, just a few things I didn’t have yet.

July 16th, 2014 Lincoln Trip Pickup

Alright, I haven’t done one of these too much lately, I got a day off from work (or rather a day moved which allowed a normal day off), so me and the gf actually had days off match up. We decided to use this to take a trip on down to Lincoln where the game stores usually have a much better retro selection thanks to all the college kids. No trip to Lincoln is complete without the mandatory visit to Ivanna Cone. We also had lunch at Lincolns brand new Ramen Shop, AmuManu Ramen Bar. It was a fun day, I may have to use vacation time to do this more often. Anyways, on to the part of the trip you are all here to see. What did I pick up this time…?

First off, the NES carts, the part the whole trip was for. Just in case you can’t read the labels here is what they are: Taboo The Six Sense, Fester’s Quest, Star Force, Cybernoid: The Fighting Machine (edited, I honestly thought it was Xbernoid), Destiny Of An Emperor, Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends, Monster Party, Shadowgate, Kid Niki, The Legend of Kage, and Wrath Of The Black Manta.

Next is a nice little miscellaneous list.  We have Gangster Town for the Sega Master System; don’t you just love the simple and sometimes childish box art they used for this system? .hack//gu for the PS2 which I have been searching for, it doesn’t have the manual but I give up at this point. Demolition Man and Metal Combat, both for the Super Nintendo. Finally, the three Atari 2600 games I grabbed: Alien, Plaque Attack, and Space Shuttle. I promise to get back on the play reviews eventually. What’s even better is that they were really nice enough to include this highly desirable collectible item soon to be worth a ton of money……a Blockbuster shopping bag! yeah, I know you wish you had one too.

And now we finally hit the end of this adventure with the few non game goodies. only two this time. Simply a PlayStation One (possibly 2, it did even have a PS2 console manual inside of it) Console Bag, and the Donkey Kong Jenga game I’ve been keeping an eye out for.

May 9, 2014 Pickup

It’s been awhile everyone and have I been busy……or is it lazy……maybe the two are synonymous. Anyways, I just had to share what I came across this week.

Like New Complete in Box copies of Super Castlevania IV and Goof Troop. I say like new, but they pretty much might as well be new. We were even informed that they may have had the cellophane on them when the store took them in. *cringe at thought of store policy being to remove cellophane* These games are b-e-a-utiful.

July 6, 2013 Pickup

Backdated because I forgot to add this one since it’s been a while since I’d picked something up. Anyways, here it is.

Let’s begin this with a Rolling Start! Daytona USA for Sega Saturn. $4

Next, I picked up something I’ve been looking for, not for very long mind you, but it was the first one I saw. Magic Sword for Super Nintendo.

Finally, followed up by three NES games I picked up for $3 each. Spy Hunter, Milon’s Secret Castle, and M.U.S.C.L.E.

April 28, 2013 Pickup

I moved last weekend so we have been busy packing and unpacking. As of now, we are mostly unpacked in the new place and good to go. The usual routine however for finding games was disrupted, we did manage to make it out some this weekend. Back on Monday, we went out to recover from the weekend a little, during this trip I picked up Paperboy 2 for SNES and The Guardian Legend on NES.

We did make it out like normal on Saturday, but all I picked up was Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on 3ds. Our friend also brought over some games we all got from a member of Nintendoage. My Haul was Japanese versions of Wipeout and King of Fighters for Sega Saturn and Pac-Man for Neo Geo Pocket Color.

Yesterday amid visiting Krispy Kreme for a buy a dozen get a free dozen sale, the girlfriend being jealous wanted to stop and pick up Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for herself. We headed back on over to one of our normal stops where the worker tells us about all the CIB SNES games and in box consoles some collector traded in to fund his modern gaming (what an idiot, old games are better). There was a nice collection of games. even a SNES in the box, a superscope in the box, a green n64 in the box, a virtual boy in the box, that collector got like $1000 in-store credit.  We spent almost an hour looking at and drooling over all the minty goodness. I managed to only walk away with two items myself. The first was Evolution: The World of Sacred Device for Dreamcast.

After that it got expensive for me, I just could not bring it upon myself to walk away without this one. Metal Warriors for SNES CIB for $300. I had to have this, thank god for credit cards right, I have been playing a rom of it for years and it’s a very amazing game. I definitively now have an answer for “what is the most expensive game you own?”

Has Blockbuster markings and stickers on it, drool over it with me…

April 14, 2013 Pickup

Once again, we weren’t able to make it out yesterday (our regularly scheduled program will resume next week), I knew this was coming so instead we planned to go to Lincoln with our friend to check out some places. Both flea markets we looked up were no longer in operation, which is sad because there are no flea markets here in Nebraska then. I tried going to an antique place, but it was not open yet, so we wandered around a Best Buy and a Gamers where I picked up Smash TV and Ghosts ‘n Goblins. Then in another case, I found Bible Adventure and Wally Bear and the No! Gang. Super excited for a great find even though most of our road trip was a bust so far.

So, we moved on to some of the game stores we looked up and a few antique places.  The antique places were all busts, and the first location of another game store was a bust as well. Downtown we went to a place I knew about called Ivanna Cone, great ice cream place downtown in the Haymarket. After we went on to one more antique place which turned out to be like three in a strip mall, all busts but had some cool stuff. At the last game store was one last find which made the whole trip even better. I picked up Paperboy, Super Pitfall, Bart vs the Space Mutants, Fatal Fury 2 for SNES, a Blockbuster ’98 cheats book, and what I’m probably most excited about……Demon’s Crest for SNES.

Overall, it was a very awesome road trip we will have to make again when we have more money. Although I wish there were actually some flea markets here.
