July 27, 2013 Pickup

I got a good haul today in my opinion and had a lot of fun at the same time. So here we go, stop number 1 where our friend works, he saved me the ET cart from a seven tote buy-in, this is my 7th. I also grabbed the two Dream cast games you see below, Crazy Taxi and Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram. I’ve never played either, but they look fun. Stop Number 2 is where I picked up my 8th ET cart.

They got a lot of new stuff here as well this week, I grabbed Rygar and Bomber man. On the way to the register, we noticed a glass case full of boxed games that were new, so I grabbed The Rocketeer, it’s just a box and the cart, but for $7 who could pass it up. Our third stop is where I grabbed Lego Racers, I’ve been looking for a decent copy to play. I love the game: I still have the jewel case for the PC version even though the CD is long gone. I’m mostly done with PC games, I can’t play the ones from 15-20 years ago without fixes that only half work, so wanting to play this again forced me to get a console version. That is my haul for this week, farewell until next time from someone who is going to make himself known as ‘That Guy Who Collects ET Carts’.

April 28, 2013 Pickup

I moved last weekend so we have been busy packing and unpacking. As of now, we are mostly unpacked in the new place and good to go. The usual routine however for finding games was disrupted, we did manage to make it out some this weekend. Back on Monday, we went out to recover from the weekend a little, during this trip I picked up Paperboy 2 for SNES and The Guardian Legend on NES.

We did make it out like normal on Saturday, but all I picked up was Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on 3ds. Our friend also brought over some games we all got from a member of Nintendoage. My Haul was Japanese versions of Wipeout and King of Fighters for Sega Saturn and Pac-Man for Neo Geo Pocket Color.

Yesterday amid visiting Krispy Kreme for a buy a dozen get a free dozen sale, the girlfriend being jealous wanted to stop and pick up Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for herself. We headed back on over to one of our normal stops where the worker tells us about all the CIB SNES games and in box consoles some collector traded in to fund his modern gaming (what an idiot, old games are better). There was a nice collection of games. even a SNES in the box, a superscope in the box, a green n64 in the box, a virtual boy in the box, that collector got like $1000 in-store credit.  We spent almost an hour looking at and drooling over all the minty goodness. I managed to only walk away with two items myself. The first was Evolution: The World of Sacred Device for Dreamcast.

After that it got expensive for me, I just could not bring it upon myself to walk away without this one. Metal Warriors for SNES CIB for $300. I had to have this, thank god for credit cards right, I have been playing a rom of it for years and it’s a very amazing game. I definitively now have an answer for “what is the most expensive game you own?”

Has Blockbuster markings and stickers on it, drool over it with me…

March 30, 2013 Pickup

Every Saturday the girlfriend, another friend and I go out to a few local stores and take a look at what they have before coming back and playing games the rest of the night. We’ve been doing this for about a month or two now. It really makes our weekends fun.

Here is what I picked up this week:

I started with an NES Game Genie at our first stop, $10 and with all the NES games we have, it seemed worth it. Everyone else in town wants $17.

After that I dropped off some of Tuesday’s haul at a goodwill down the street, all those phone chargers and miscellaneous cables. Following that we headed over to our next stop, where I picked up a Dreamcast Rumble Pack, Adventure Island for the NES, and a complete in box G-Loc Air Battle for Game Gear.

Following that, we moved on further down the road to Gamers, where I traded in the miscellaneous av cables and games I chose not to keep from Tuesdays Haul.

Done with all of our normal stops, we headed on home, stopping at CD Tradepost along the way. Here I grabbed Laser Invasion for the NES, Bionic Commando for the original Gameboy, and three copies of Atari 2600 ET for 84 cents each bringing my total number of ET carts up to six. For those who don’t know, I’m collecting Atari 2600 ET carts.

Picked up some stuff from craigslist FREE!

A guy was giving away a box of gaming stuff, had to take the whole lot, I feel it was worth it.

First Item is this Box of Atari games, mostly 2600, but there is Pole Position II for the 7200.

There was also a Commodore Vic 20 in the box, with some Vic 20 books. Not sure if the Commodore works, but I intend to find out soon.

There was a Dreamcast in the bin as well, Controller works fine so now I have two, Console powers on but won’t read disks. Been looking at fixes online so I’ll try one of those soon, they require a multimeter.

Got a ps2/ps3/pc Steering Wheel. I can’t quite get to work right now: I need to grab a multimeter and check the power cord. From research, it’s either that died or the force feedback motor died which means its trash.

Got a bunch of random controllers, a couple good ones and a few broken third-party ones (trash). Sold the 4 Atari 5200 controllers to a guy and made some money.

Got some random games as well. I’m keeping some and selling the rest. There’s also a broken Gameboy Color (Screen Smashed) and Gameboy Advance SP (looks like water damaged) in there. Also, a couple PS1 memory cards, some compact flash cards.

Here is some more random junk (not all pictured here). There is a working V Smile children’s learning console with two controllers and two games, A Crayola Coloring Plug and Play, A Space Invaders Plug and Play (Keeping This One), A Space Invaders handheld (Keeping this if it works), RC battery charger, Broken Atari light gun, Random TV remotes, Random Cellphone Chargers, Couple old Headphones, Wii AV Cable, two PS1/2 Power Cables, three PS1/2 AV Cables, Some Music Router, Some kind of switch, a few coax cables, a laser mouse, There’s even some kind of collectible card game here.

Even got a few comic books.

I plan to take some of the things I don’t want to goodwill, and some of them are going to go to the local game store.
